Highspeed Internet In St. Louis Missouri, SBC DSL and Charter Pipeline

Last Updated Wednesday, January 23, 2008 4:50 PM

I just wanted to make a quick post to try and guide anyone in St. Louis who may be looking for Highspeed internet service.

DON'T go with SBC DSL! I would  highly recommend going with Charter's Pipeline service. Though Charter is more expensive there is no contract, and from my experience dealing with Charter's support is a lot less painful than dealing with SBC. Also, their service works better and has better uptime!

So, take it from a pro who has been burned. SBC DSL sucks! :D

Huzzah! I have 3 family members who have been lured into SBC DSL based on the price. Being the family computer guy (IT of 13 years), I get to set them up. They've all sucked and had lots of problems, but there's that 1 year contract. I spent 18 months consulting for SBC in St. Louis downtown and they top my list of companies that I don't ever want to work for again. After my contract was up and I could get out of there, I gleefully switched to Charter phone service as well and now I'm happily sitting with my total Charter package for LESS than SBC's lousy package.

I have a sister who lived down there...I set her up on my server to use my email service. They completely blocked port 25 since their email software didn't use it. wtf.... I also have a client in STL area who was using their "browser". The menu I built for him on a DNN site wouldn't render properly. If he used IE or firefox, worked fine. After seeing this article, I'll know never to consider them as a service provider. Thanks ...Darren (Ford Mustangs Rule!)
