In case you didn’t hear, DotNetNuke 6 was released yesterday. In preparation for the release I went up to our Engineering office in Langley Canada (I work out of our San Mateo, California office) to sit down with some of our developers and have them do some demonstrations of some of the new features in DotNetNuke 6.

These are all relatively short videos, with the goal of them being under 10 minutes, one or two is slightly longer than that. They are all free to watch! Here’s a listing of those videos, and URLs to them in the DotNetNuke Video Library. In no particular order.

So you are excited about DotNetNuke 6, yes? No? Well you should be! It was released today. If you are excited about the new TextProvider, the RadEditorProvider then you are going to love DotNetNuke 6. Unless of course you are doing an upgrade, then unfortunately you won’t get the provider! Why? Well, unfortunately a slight oversight in the packaging process missed the RadEditorProvider in the Upgrade package. But never fear, the fix is simple!
Big thangs baby, today is a big day in the world of .NET. DotNetNuke 6 has been released. I won’t go into all of the details, Joe Brinkman has done that with a blog post over on DotNetNuke.com, but I will cover some of the highlights. First though, a little Too Short – Big Thangs (lyrics NSFW, and may be offensive, it is rap, get over it) (read the full post)
So if you follow us on Twitter or Facebook you likely saw that Sunday was a planned ride day, but while trying to make sure I had air in my tires I ended up tearing one of the tubes. Not having any spares around was the first lesson, always have some extras! So on Monday I ran out and picked up 3 tubes, between mine and the wife's bike I hope 3 will last us a little bit. So as most of you know, I have a domain problem, it’s a Godaddy caused addiction really. I don’t consider it a problem, but some of you might. Anyways, that problem, led me to another problem. I was trying to add a Domain Alias to my Google Apps account, which I use for the email system on the primary websites that I manage. The problem I ran into though was I had a domain name that google was telling me I needed to Activate. Be sure to read the full blog post!
So this website has been up for a few weeks now, and after looking at the Traffic here on the site, we're getting incoming search links for the term Bicycle Legs. Read the full blog post for details on what Bicycle Legs are.
So this isn’t going to be a long tip, as this topic will likely fill out future tips as well, but for now I will raise a question. How do you track your rides? Or, do you track your rides? Read the full post for all our thoughts.
I received an email earlier this week from a company called the MarketGraphics Research Group. They are looking to fill an “Advanced Programmer and Analyst” position, I am assuming out of their Franklin Tennessee office. If you’re a DotNetNuke developer, or able to quickly get up and running on DotNetNuke (check out the DotNetNuke Training Subscription if you need to get up to speed) you should give the position a gander. So I got home from work this evening, spent some time with the baby this evening, and now I am watching The Car Show (@carshow), a new series on Speed, though I am watching it on Hulu. If you’re a car guy, you should check it out.

Well, there goes Day #2 of the year 2011 without a blog post. Yesterday I was planning on getting a blog post done when I got home from Vancouver, but due to my delayed flight, and not really thinking about it, I ended up not getting a blog post done for the day.

So, out of the first 193 days of 2011, I have missed two days of blogging. Not thrilled about that, but I’ll keep chugging along to see if I can make it 363 of 365 for 2011.

Day 193 of #baby365I did manage to get the #Baby365 photos posted however, so I’m still good to go there!

So I am in Canada today/tomorrow at DotNetNuke’s engineering office. I got into Vancouver early this morning and picked up my rental car. When I was walking by the rental cars I saw a ton of Fiat 500s, I was hoping that Hertz would have those for rent, as that was where my reservation was.

My smart car rentalTo my dismay they did not, they offered me a Smart ForTwo. I figured, what the hell, I’ll try it out. Big mistake.

This has to be the biggest POS I’ve ever driven. The car can’t shift to save its life, it is an automatic transmission that feels like a 15 year old trying to learn to drive a manual is controlling the clutch.

The brakes won’t hold the car in place unless you hold the pedal to the floor.

It has no power (can’t say I expected any), it is loud, I have to wonder if the damn thing is a diesel, I guess I need to figure that out before I return it tomorrow evening.

Comfort wise it actually doesn’t feel too small, the drive is okay once you get past the brakes, sound, and transmission.

If you ever get the chance to drive/buy a Smart ForTwo, don’t!

So, here we are, July 10th, 2011, day 191 of the year. So where are we at in terms of the fitness goals? On January 1st I posted that I wanted to ride a bike for at least 500 miles this year, and I wanted to skate at least 100 miles.

To be honest, things got off to a slow start, especially for biking as I didn’t ride a bike until May. In January I got a couple of skates in, though not as many as I would have liked. I then didn’t skate until today, far too long.

Nine months ago today, Jacqueline was born. I can’t believe it has been 9 months already, she’s growing so fast. I’ve got some video I took today, I’ll get it posted tomorrow if I can get time to put it together.

So what all does everyone have planned for their weekend rides? Personally I’m hoping to take the Cannondale Quick CX1 out for a ride on both Saturday and Sunday. If I can get the time I’ll try to put in at least 25 miles between the two days. Read the full post!

So this year will be my 3rd year, (would be my 4th if I hadn’t bailed at the last minute on year 1), that I will be speaking at the St. Louis Day(s) of .Net. If you haven’t been to the STLDODN you should definitely check it out. It is a great two day event, and at $125 (if you register by 7/8/2011) the price can hardly be beat!

The event is being held this year on August 5th and 6th, 2011. Again at the Ameristar Casino in St. Charles, MO, about 10 minutes from where I used to live (two moves ago now).

So as a new bike rider I am highly concerned about being safe while I ride. I also don’t like the idea of carrying my wallet with me while I ride. It’s bulky, could get lost, or who knows what else. Last year while watching the Tour de France I saw advertisements for RoadID and I though, what the heck is that for? Well, this year as I started riding I quickly figured it out. What would happen if I got into an accident while I was out riding, sans wallet. What if I was unable to speak, how would anyone know who I was, where I lived, or how to get in touch with my wife and baby?

So today is the Fourth of July, and what is everyone going to be doing tonight? Going to watch Fireworks of course. The wife and I are as well, though we are leaving the baby at home with her Nana for the evening. Here in Half Moon Bay, CA there are fireworks scheduled over in El Granada, which is about a 3 mile bike ride for us. Read the full post for more

This morning I took off from our house around 6:10am and headed south on Highway 1. I was on the road to Marina, CA. The trip was nice and uneventful, traffic was great, but I’m sure that had to do with the fact that it was so early on a Sunday morning of a three day weekend.
Over a year ago I realized that my Bell Helmet was missing. Somewhere on the move from Colorado to California it went off into its own world. I was sure I had it with me when I came in March 2010, and must have left it in a hotel while I was shifting around hotels for a few weeks while looking for a place to live. I went through box after box after box when we moved all our stuff from Colorado to CA in April, but no matter where I dug I couldn’t find it.
It has been a good 5.5 years Xbox, I didn't play you as much as I could have, but you lasted me quite a long time for an original release day 360. Though I wish you could have given me a little bit of a heads up that you were about to pass. I was at Best Buy today and could have picked up your replacement, I gladly would have actually.

In the morning Natalie and I are planning on a bike ride. We’re going to ride in McNee Ranch State Park. We’re going to try to ride to the top of the mountain. Almost 1900’ from essentially sea level.

Here’s the writeup from BAHiker.com, though it appears to be about 10 years old now

I’m not sure how that is going to go over, but we are going to try! Wish us luck.

So our story began a while back. We’ve talked of getting bikes so that we could start riding. By a while, I think we’ve talked about it for 3 or 4 years? My brother is “in the industry” or used to be, so I had visions of getting deep discounts on something really cool. Before we get into the selection, a little background on me. As a kid I was always on a bike, but only a bmx style bike, never a road bike, never a “10-speed” as we called them back then, never a mountain bike. Though I did pick up a mountain bike for $25 in high school, I honestly think I rode it home, and then likely never again. I never rode for competition, it was always for fun.
Alright, it’s time to get back into the swing of things. The 2011 TireRack SCCA Solo Nationals are in two months, I need to try to get as much seat time as I can between now and then!

So I noticed in my Hotmail account (which I only check to see if I get other people’s email) that Bing recently “updated” their Webmaster tools.

So, the question is, does anyone use it? Is Bing at all relevant? I jumped on the Bingwagon when it first came out, then I quickly realized it never indexed any of my websites, while Google ate them up and showed me in search results.

Should I bother setting up my sites in their webmaster tools? Or should I just stick with Google?

So I was doing a little digging and according to the Half Moon Bay Review (www.hmbreview.com) it looks like there will be a Fireworks show in Half Moon Bay this year at Pillar Point.
