So this won’t necessarily be a tip, but it will hopefully be something for people to comment on with their own thoughts. I’m new to cycling, I’ll explain more of that over the next few weeks, but just understand that I’ve not really ridden a bike in years, until the past couple of weeks. Read the full post for all the details
So I did it, (with the help of Natalie). I made it to 50 miles on the bike this week. Actually 52.36 miles according to Garmin Connect. I rode 4 out of the last 7 days, I hope to try to keep that up, at least 3 out of 7 days at minimum. My average speed for the 52 miles was 10mph, (including stops for photos) with an average heart rate of 159bpm. Read more ....
Natalie and I got to go on our second bike ride together tonight. My mother is in town (thanks mom!) and watched Jacqueline for us while we went for a brief ride.

DotNetNuke 6 is coming, DotNetNuke 6 is coming! That’s right, we’re getting close, close enough that we had our first “beta” for DNN6 today. While we’ve had a couple of CTP (community technology preview) releases, the beta today has quite a bit of things wrapped up and addressed.

Tonight after work (and dinner, and baby time) I got started on my first Android application. I’m actually doing it the “cheating” way, using Google’s App Inventor, but I figured what the hell, let’s see what I can get done in one evening. I’m not going to stay what the application is, not yet, but if I get something together I’ll see if I can’t get it into the Android Market here in the next week or so. It’s all a new experience for me, so we’ll see how this works out.
That’s my goal for this week, to ride 50 miles. In all honesty, it isn’t that much, but I can with about 99% confidence say that I have never ridden a bike 50 miles in one week. Yesterday afternoon I went for a ride up Highway 1 to Moss Beach, and then over towards the ocean. My first time really climbing on a bike. It wasn’t much of a climb, but according to my Garmin I did gain 1,118ft in elevation, far more than any other ride as of late.

I’ve been meaning to make some changes to the skin I was using on ChrisHammond.com for a couple of weeks now. Basically it was running the MultiFunction Free DotNetNuke Skin that I created/released back in May. I wanted to make the “Home” skin use a different header image than the other pages, meaning the home page would have a larger header graphic, and the other pages would have a smaller graphic.

What happened to the weekend? It’s already Saturday evening! I guess playing Xbox until 3am and sleeping till 9am, then another 2 hours in the afternoon, kind of kills your day!

I did manage to get blinds up in Jacqueline’s playroom, which will be my mother’s room this coming weekend while she’s here for a visit.

Tomorrow I’m hoping to get a bike ride in, the cars washed/waxed and then have a nice BBQ when the Strohl’s come over.

Apologies to all my friends who got bombarded with blog posts on Facebook tonight. Somehow Facebook decided to post “notes” for all my blog posts over the past few weeks. This is supposed to happen daily, but it hasn’t been.

I’m not sure why it started up tonight….

Last night before bed I had an Adobe update that required a reboot. So set my machine to reboot while I went to bed. I woke up this morning to a machine that couldn’t boot up. A few quick trials before I left for the office turned out to be unproductive. Then at home this evening I spent an hour, swapping cables, trying to boot, trying different SATA ports, trying to boot to a Windows 7 CD to try and do a repair.

IMG_2921.jpgNatalie and I took our first bike ride together this afternoon. This was the first time we’ve had the opportunity to go riding together. We both have bikes now, but with the baby getting away to ride is limited to one of us at a time. My brother came into town though so we stuck him with babysitting duty and headed out for a 16 mile ride around Half Moon Bay.

We’re looking forward to the time when we can put Jacqueline in the trailer and tow her along behind us on the bike rides! The next time we’ll get to ride together again will be in two weeks when my mother comes into town for a bit.

So this blog post will consist of videos of Jacqueline!

First, she has started to be come mobile with a combination crawl/roll motion, check it out.

She also now likes to “cough” and will respond to other coughing

Then there's tonight's video where she gets talkative at dinner

Old hard drivesSo what do you do with old hard drives? I’m not talking 1, or 2, but every hard drive you’ve ever owned and no longer use, from 1.7gb up to 750gb (minus a couple of 750s I destroyed while in Colorado)? Here’s my dilemma, I’ve got this stack of hard drives (pictured on the left), half of them I’ve gone through and made sure I have removed all the content I wanted to save on them, deleted the rest.

Now, I know not to just toss these into the trash, it would be theoretically possible to recover the data, even if I delete them. And now that I am becoming a Maker (or dreaming of becoming one) I feel like tossing all that hardware would be a waste of metal.

So how do I dispose of old hard drives? Well I plan to take them apart.

I’m sure you’re wondering, how much data is actually on that stack of hard drives? A pathetic 1.5tb, 1/2 of that coming from a single 750gb drive.

Stay tuned for a photo later this week of all the remnants.

If you are interested in presenting a session (or three) at DotNetNuke World in Orlando in November time is running out to get your sessions submitted!

You have until June 8th to get them in. Even if you haven’t spoken at a DotNetNuke Conference in the past we are looking for new talent, new ideas, and new topics!

So head on over to the speaker submission page and get started, obviously the more sessions you submit the better your chances are for being picked!

DotNetNuke World is November 9th through 11th, 2011, and will be held in Orlando Florida. What happened to DotNetNuke Connections? Well, while doing the conference in Las Vegas the past few years, we’ve grown up, and it’s time to do our own show! Having our own show, and having it in Orlando offers a lot of benefits. 1) It’s far cheaper for you to attend compared to Las Vegas. 2) it is easily accessible for our DotNetNuke user’s in Europe. 3) You can easily turn it into a family vacation, as I hear there are a few things that families might be interested in around there.

DotNetNuke Training

We will once again have some pre-conference training available, the topics and registration information for those will be announced within the next couple of weeks.

This morning was an early morning for me and Jacqueline, I told mommy I would take morning duty so we got up just before 7 so that mommy could sleep in. We played in the play room for a while, then made our way to the office to watch some TV. We both fell asleep to Pawn Stars, and woke up to auction hunters, which is like a cross between Pawn Stars, American Pickers and Storage Wars.

Most of the rest of the day was spent cleaning up, unpacking and organizing more things. Jacqueline took a 3 hour nap during this process, convenient how she never seems to help out when we are unpacking!

We kept thinking it was going to rain, and planned to take a bike ride, and have a BBQ this afternoon. We managed to get both of those in, and it sounds like it has just started raining here in the past 15 minutes or so. I’ve got my new grill covered up, though I’m curious to see how well the cover works.

Here are some photos from today

So far the weather here in California this year has been great! While a little wet, the temperature has been just the way I like it. Today started out wet, but ended nice and sunny here in Half Moon Bay, temperature in the low 60s, maybe even mid 50s.
I headed off to try and catch the sunset, though it didn't turn out to be a great color show. Tomorrow we're going to test out our new BBQ, in prep for a gathering we are having next week.

No, not at 95mph, but at 95 years old? That’s what I want, to be driving when I’m 95.

Our new neighbor apparently is, though I haven’t confirmed his age, 95, and still driving! I’ll have to ask his son just how old his father is.

I want to be that guy when I’m 95, still with it and driving.

Half Moon Bay must be crazy about recycling. We now have three (3) 65 gallon trash cans dedicated for recycling. We don’t have a service provided trash can, and we have a 96 gallon yard waste bin. Two of the recycling bins were delivered today. One was delivered on Tuesday. Hello? Why so much? I mean, I imagine we could actually use two, but three, no way in hell.

I’m going to have to call Allied Waste tomorrow and sort this mess out. I still have to get rid of all our boxes as well, hopefully I’ll get them posted on Craigslist tonight and get someone to come pick them up.

I can’t wait till we buy our own house, or have one built (that would be ideal based on the topic at hand). The past couple of evenings I’ve been working on getting the TV setup in the new house, well one of the TVs. Tonight I finally got things going, the problem I’ve run into is the darn wiring. I need to get wiring for the side surround speakers, and ideally I would get rear and side speakers hooked up. Running wires for these is such a pain.

In a perfect world I would build a house with all the wiring built in as the house is put together.

Anyone have any experience with wireless speaker setups?
