The 13th release in the Jack Daniel’s Distillery Series, formerly Tennessee Tasters has been announced, a Twice Barreled Rye.

Information about this release is hard to find so far, but it is being reported that it will be available in April 2024, and as with all other bottles in the series, only available in Tennessee.

Here’s what we know so far, mostly based on the label found online.

The 2023 Special Release from Jack Daniel’s brings us another heritage barrel selection, and another twice barreled offering (like 2022) at the same time.

This year’s edition is a Rye, first barreled in new oak barrels, then followed up with a second maturing session in some extra toasty heritage barrels.

Jack Daniel’s ventured into Rye over 10 years ago and has regularly been adding to their line since.

In 2023 Jack Daniel’s started bottling and releasing their Single Barrel Barrel Proof Rye, to go along with their Single Barrel Barrel Proof Tennessee Whiskey. This will be regular release going forward.

Celebrating Five Years of CollectorOfJack.com

Today, November 18, 2023, marks a special milestone for us at CollectorOfJack.com. It’s been exactly five years since we launched our website in its first iteration back on November 18, 2018. We’ve come a long way since then, and we’re excited to continue sharing our passion for Jack Daniel’s with you. While posts have been infrequent lately, our founder Chris Hammond is committed to ramping up the content. Expect to see more frequent updates, with the aim of bringing you new and exciting content at least once a week!

It’s been a while since I’ve blogged about a real bottle, that doesn’t mean I haven’t been collecting. I simply got it in my head that I needed the perfect backdrop for my photos.

Here we have the 2022 Special Release from Jack Daniels: Jack Daniel’s 2022 Special Release Twice Barreled American Single Malt

Over the past few months I’ve been playing with ChatGPT. I figured I should give it a shot at writing the life story of Jack Daniel’s. I’m not sure if it’s 100% accurate, but it certainly hits most of the points.

The 2022 Special Release for Jack Daniel’s should be hitting shelves very soon! We don’t have a bottle yet, but wanted to highlight what you can expect!

Hot off the presses Jack Daniel’s has just announced two new bottles in the Tennessee Taster’s series, and is now calling them Jack Daniel’s Distillery Series.

  • Jack Daniel’s Distillery Series Toasted Barrel Finished Rye
  • Jack Daniel’s Distillery Series Toasted Maple Barrel

Hot off the presses and hot to the tongue, Jack Daniel’s has announced that this Friday starting at 8am at the White Rabbit Bottle Shop you can get the new Small Batch Coy Hill 375ml bottle!

Here is some of the press I’ve been able to find:

a very limited release small batch whiskey that we’ll be offering in Tennessee this summer, our Jack Daniel’s Small Batch Special Release Coy Hill High Proof.

For 2021 the Special Release from Jack Daniel’s is known as the Coy Hill High Proof. It can come from one of two barrel houses up on Coy Hill near Lynchburg, #08 or #13.

While the previous Special Release bottles from Jack Daniel’s have been hard to find, this one saw demand like no other. Secondary prices for the bottle appear to be almost 10x retail. I hate to tell you what I paid for mine, not that much, but not much better.

Today is my 2 year anniversary of getting my plot! I was super pumped to be nominated to be a Tennessee Squire by a fraternity brother of mine back in January 2020, and even more excited to find out that I had been accepted!

This week I got out on my first work trip, since probably August 2019. I started a new job last year, about a week after the world shut down for the pandemic, so work trips have been on hold for quite some time, that and the last employer stopped my travelling, so I hadn’t been on the road for work in quite some time. It was great to get out and meet some fellow employees and customers face to face.

Fortunately for me the trip was to Franklin, TN, which isn’t too far from Lynchburg, so I turned the work trip into a little fun too. Before heading down, I signed up for the Angel’s Share tour on Thursday morning. Wednesday after the work meetings were over I drove around Franklin TN a bit and did some whiskey hunting, checking out the local liquor stores to see what I could find. I ended up picking up a bottle of Wheeler’s Raid, which is a local whiskey out of Nolensville, TN I believe, on the recommendation of a coworker.

In the fall of 2019 rumors started swirling online of a new release available at the White Rabbit Bottleshop in Lynchburg, of a Before and After set. Two bottles of unmatured Old No. 7, one BEFORE Charcoal Mellowing and one AFTER Charcoal Mellowing, along with a small bottle of Hard Sugar Maple Charcoal in between the two bottles. The BEFORE bottle on the left, the AFTER on the right.

With the release of Jack Honey and Fire over the past 10 years, it was time for Jack Daniel’s to catch the apple train and release their own Tennessee Apple Liqueur. I was able to get some here in Missouri earlier this fall from lukasliquorstl.com.

The 750ml bottle comes in the usual Jack Daniel’s shape with a green gold and white label. The front of the bottle reads:

Jack Daniel’s

Original Recipe

Tennessee Apple

Finely Crafted

Apple Liqueur Blended with Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey

One side of the bottle reads:

Caramel Colored

The other side reads:

Jack Daniel’s Character

The back reads:

The bottle can be found at retailers everywhere, and as I understand it, is around for a while, so it shouldn’t be too hard to track down.

Another Traveler's Exclusive released by Jack Daniel’s in the last couple of years is the 100 Proof Bottled in Bond. I recently acquired one with the help of an employee who travelled to Europe in September. Only one was acquired, so I haven’t had a change to taste it, but hopefully I can get another bottle some time in the future.

The bottle I got was a 1L in a box, let’s document the box first. The front of the box reads:

Jack Daniel’s

Bottled at 100 Proof

Tennessee Sour Mash Whiskey

Distilled and Vigilantly Bottled in Bond at the Jack Daniel Distillery

Traveler’s Exclusive Bottled at A Hundred Proof

Both side’s of the box read “Jack Daniel”. The rear has:

Exacted Quality

Bottled in Bond

Jack Daniel’s Bottled-in-bond is a rich, bold whiskey that honors the 1890s, the time when Mr. Jack began bottling whiskey in his signature square bottle. That era also marked when the United States Government passed the bottled-in-bond act.

The bottled-in-bond designation was only awarded to whiskey aged for at least four years, distilled during a single season, crafted at only one distillery and bottled at 100 proof. These efforts, even today, assure drinkers that the whiskey is of the highest standard of quality.

As for the bottle itself. The front reads:

Tennessee Sour Mash Whiskey

On the sides the bottle reads:

During the 1890s, Mr. Jack Daniel entrusted his whiskey to the now familiar square bottle to ensure its quality “Until the seal is broken.” The United States Government then followed suit by unveiling the Bottled-In-Bond Act identifying whiskey from a single distillery from a single season matured in a bonded barrelhouse and bottled at 100 Proof. This rich bold whiskey honors the spirit of both.

The back reads:

This is a beautiful bottle, and box, as you can see in the photo gallery here on this page. I hope at some point in the future the distillery releases the bottle to normal retail markets as well, but only time will tell.

There are some items that Jack Daniels’s chooses to release, that can only be acquired while travelling, via Duty Free shops. If you haven’t travelled out of the United States before, you can’t shop duty free, at least to purchase alcohol, unless you are travelling to/from overseas.

In 2016 Jack Daniel’s celebrated the 150th anniversary of the Jack Daniel’s Distillery in Lynchburg, TN. They commemorated this with a special edition bottle in a black and gold label.

I don’t believe the bottle was limited in release, and was likely available in all 50 states. I haven’t seen one on a shelf in quite a few years however. You can find it online for around $130.

In May of 2019 Jack Daniel’s released the second in their Legacy Edition line. TotalWine.com has the bottled described as

While the label is predominantly black, it has notes of gold and red, along with gray and white decorating the design. The front label reads

The right side of the bottle reads:

The left side of the bottle reads:

The bottle should be available in all 50 states, if you don’t see it yet, check again soon. I received a call from my local liquor store yesterday to stay it arrived. I went and picked up two bottles and was able to get a cardboard box for the Legacy Edition 2 case as well. Nothing fancy, but cool none the less.
