Stone Temple Pilots in St. Louis, the review

Stone Temple Pilots in St. Louis, the review

A short review for tonight, perhaps a longer one in the morning, perhaps not.

Ashes Divide, eh, not a fan. They performed well, I'm just not a big fan of their music.

Saliva, great live, I might have to buy an album of theirs on my Zune this week.

Chevelle, good show live, sounded great, but not a huge fan of their music, I have one album, not likely to buy another soon.

STP, amazing, great show as always. My first concert back in 1994 was STP at Arco Arena in Sacramento. This show wasn't as flashy but still good nonetheless. I think this is my third time seeing STP, and 4th Scott, I will definitely make the trip again sometime if given the chance.

We were sitting in what amounted to the 5th or 6th row, in front of that was the "mosh" pit, but I can't say I saw any moshing today.

I shot some video on my phone, will try to upload it tomorrow if it turned out at all.

Chris, Loved the show. Agree with your comments on Saliva. They really energized the lawn which was fairly mellow before and after until STP started. Here is the set list per my recollection. Seems like I missed one, but I am not sure. STP wasn't as great as I had expected Sunday night. That was my first time ever watching them in concert. I thought SW sounded off beat, like he couldn't count the beats and couldn't synch himself to them. I am an STP fan by far, but I was really not impressed by the concert. Scott looked like a singing blonde skeleton. The man needs to eat a cheeseburger. Not that it at all had any effect on the music (his weight that is). I think he could have been better.. Maybe he just needed to take a few more hits? Saliva in my opinion was the best one out there. I do happen to like Chevelle, but do not own their album. I wasn't as impressed with them as I was with Saliva. I saw a bit of Cavo on the sidestage, and I fail to see the hype behind them. I missed Copperview, which I happen to like, but eh, my loss I suppose. I will have to say, for never have seeing any of the bands that played that day/night, the whole concert wasn't as enjoyable as I expected. I had a good time, I made the most of it. I think I can contribute that to the company I kept that day.. not the music.

I thought the show was pretty decent. I don't really care for Saliva on the radio, but they put on a pretty good show. Chevelle is great on the album, and once they get a little time to warm up, they did a really good job as well. STP was decent, not as good as they could be. I thought that Weiland's voice was excruciatingly nasal, and was glad that they didn't soundboard his vocals up too high. It was too bad they didn't break a song or two from Talk Show, Army of Anyone, or Velvet Revolver, that could've been pretty interesting. I am glad I got to see them, though, was a memorable experience.
