The power of the processor
Discover the perfect setup for gaming, development, and video editing with a Q6600 processor, 4GB RAM, 1.15TB storage, and more. Read on at weblogs.asp.net!

So a few weeks ago I finally bucked up and built myself a new computer for gaming/development/video editing at home. I went with a Q6600, 4gb of ram, 1.15tb of drive space (150gb 10krpm, 1tb 7200rpm), a 550w power supply, and a shiny new case. I also put in a new NVidia 260 GTX video card into it.
It was money well spent! For development purposes our largest DNN module, Engage Publish now runs its nant script in 5.9 seconds, down from 21.5 on my old desktop at home, as well as my desktop at work. My new laptop that I got a few weeks ago runs the script in 13 seconds.
Tonight I’ll work on some racing video from the past few months to post over on www.corvettez06.org, I have a feeling it will be much easier to manage on this new machine, both my old machine and the new laptop have trouble working with the HD video that I get out of my Canon HV20.
I played some Counter-Strike Source last night for the first time in a long time, I think I will have to add that back into my weekly routine of fun as I have missed that experience! Now, if I can just get the rest of the guys at www.qoda.net to start playing again.\
My new Windows Vista Experience Index score is 5.6, all of the hardware but the memory I installed rates at 5.9.
